Meet Marta, our eCommerce Business Intelligence Analyst in Porto! “ I began my academic path with a bachelor's in Radiotherapy. After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I felt there was a lack of opportunities in Portugal and there are only a few appealing career paths available at the time. This encouraged me to enroll in a post-graduate degree in Information Management and Business Intelligence in Healthcare, presenting myself with a chance to create a synergy between a field I knew and liked – Healthcare, and something completely new – Data. My advice for women seeking to enter the data and technology sector is simply this: Join us! It is fun here. It is challenging; you learn something new almost every day. The data and technology universe is so vast that you will find a world that suits you best, and then all you need to do is thrive on knowledge and the enjoyment of this pursuit. I believe we are an excellent example of what I envision for the future of women in the data and technology industry. I am happy that the number of women forging their paths in the data sector is increasing all the time, demonstrating our proficiency, and sending the message that we deserve recognition and relevant roles in the industry. Being part of the HUGO BOSS Digital Campus team has been amazing. Coming together as one team to collaborate, solve problems, and help each other always strengthens bonds, provides invaluable insights, and increases productivity. I recently had the opportunity to visit the HUGO BOSS headquarters in Metzingen to meet the people I have been working so closely with, and it was great! I have learned that sharing similar values, energies, and goals improves teamwork. When we are equally involved, engaged, and eager to work together, it creates a warm, proactive, and collaborative work culture.”
Meet Carlos, our Lead Backend Developer in Porto! "I joined Metyis five years ago to be part of a technology team based in Porto. Currently, I am a Lead Backend Developer. In addition to my responsibilities on the development side of projects, I am responsible for mentoring team members to thrive within their roles as they innovate solutions tailored to clients’ precise needs. One of the main reasons I decided to join Metyis was the team here at Porto. When I went to the Porto office to meet the team, I immediately felt that it was the right place to work at this stage in my career. The environment felt very dynamic and motivated, and everyone was visibly enjoying their projects. Before Metyis, I mainly worked on e-commerce projects for fashion clients. At Metyis, I had an opportunity to enter the world of IoT, which is very appealing for someone with an Electrical Engineering background. What I love the most about working at Metyis is the team and the projects. It is effortless to communicate with everyone on my team or in a completely different area or even country. Additionally, the challenge of, as a backend developer, working not only with the frontend team but also very closely with the hardware and UX/UI teams, is exciting and not very common. This way, one can see the full development, from the sensors design and implementation to the design and development of apps and websites. In terms of projects, working in the IoT area is very motivating. I feel that we are creating real value for our partners by collecting, analysing, and providing insights on previously unavailable data. We also have a lot of autonomy to define the approach and steer the development in ways that we feel will bring the most value to the partner, as well as using state of the art solutions for the different challenges that we find along the way."
